HEIGHT CALCULATION FORMULA
Can you guess how tall your child will grow? Well, there is a simple formula for this calculation. Although not 100% reliable, but to some extent it gives you an idea whether your child is falling short of the desired height. Here it is:
For Girls :
Height of Father + Height of Mother + 5 inches (13 cm) / 2
Height of Father + Height of Mother – 5 inches (13 cm) / 2
However, as we all know not all children born to the same couple will be the same height. Science shows that height tends to decrease in younger siblings.
Another popular method for predicting height is to double a boy’s height at age two or a girl’s height at 18 months. Most children will reach an adult height within 4in (10cm) of this estimation.
BODY-MASS-INDEX (BMI) CALCULATION
Are you Obese or Under-weight? Let’s find out. Through BMI calculation you can see if you are over-weight or under-weight. BMI is calculated by dividing your weight in kg by square of your height in metres. So, a person who is 176 cm and weighs 85 kg will have a BMI of approximately 27 which means that the person is overweight. See the following table.

The BMI has been recommended by the WHO to decide whether someone’s underweight, healthy, overweight or obese. However, the system is NOT flawless because, the BMI the frame size, muscularity or the proportions of fat you have in the body, etc., are not taken into account. Nonetheless, BMI can give you a rough idea about your average health.
